About Antioch
Antioch is located midway between Chicago and Milwaukee. Antioch's Chain-O-Lakes region is one of Chicago's favorite resort areas. Antioch has a diverse employment base. Professionals, financial institutions, car dealerships, and retail stores draw from a trade area with approximate borders of the Tri-State Tollway on the east, Route 12 on the west, Route 50 to the north and Grand Ave (Rte. 132) to the south. Tourism has always been an important part of the local economy.
The numerous campgrounds and marinas are large employers. Antioch has a large industrial area. Some of the largest employers include Antioch Gasket/ NuWay Speaker, Skach Manufacturing, Thelen Sand & Gravel, Janis Plastics, Pickard China (the nation's finest china manufacturer). Many residents find employment within 20-30 miles of Antioch at such internationally known firms as Abbott Labs, Baxter Healthcare, Chrysler Motors, Motorola, Hewitt and Associates. With easy access to the Tri State Tollway, employment opportunities exist with 50 miles north or south of Antioch and the Antioch area.
